.IC.
Full Name: Orla Erin Kiely
Nicknames: Orla, Orlie, La, Bean (don't ask)
Age: 16
Birthday: June 17, 1972
House/Year: 6th year Hufflepuff
Occupation: Student
Sexuality: Straight, but she does think girls are very pretty.
Martial Status: Single
Blood Status: Muggleborn
Loyalty/Alliance: With Aidan; with her family; not with the Death Eaters
Role in the war: She was not but a wee babe at the time, so she had no position.

.PERSONALITY.
Orla is a farm girl. Even with seven sisters, she's more comfortable in jeans and her brother's shirts than in her sisters' skirts and dresses. She practically lives in the stable, and has been known to sleep in the spare stall; when one of the horses is sick, Orla is usually the first person to volunteer to stay and watch the animal. She has a seemingly endless ability to empathize with people and animals; she feels what other people feel. As such, Orla is a real people-person. She loves meeting new people and making new friends.

Orla is always busy doing something. Growing up on the farm taught her that there is always something that needs doing. Farm life is also the reason she is so disciplined. Having to get up at dawn to feed the horses before school would be enough to teach anyone to be disciplined, especially when she had to have good grades in order to compete. School really isn't all that important to Orla, just a means to an end. She does have a special knack for Herbology, Care of Magical Creatures, and Astronomy, but is absolutely horrible at Potions, History of Magic, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. This doesn't bother her, because she knows that whether she decides to live in the Muggle or Wizarding world, she will be working with horses.

Horses are a big part of Orla's life. They are her everything. She can't necessarily tell you who the current Minister of Magic is, or who the previous one was, but she can name all of the famous horse breeders in the United Kingdom. She would rather polish her tack, muck out the stalls, or groom the horses than do her homework, go shopping, or talk about boys. That is part of the reason she and Aidan get along so well - Orla's more like one of the guys than his sister.

Strengths
Care of Magical Creatures, Herbology, Astronomy, hard worker, loyal, empathetic, caring, helpful, disciplined, sweet, spunky, full of life, good sense of humour, horse-back riding, trusting, believes in the good in people, morning person, outdoorsy, athletic, spontaneous, quiet but not shy.

Weaknesses
Naive, smart mouthed, easily hurt emotionally, wears her heart on her sleeve, too trusting, has little regard for her personal health or hygene, would give the shirt off her back to help someone, terrible poker face, absolutely terrified of heights, can't swim, bruises easily, anemic, Potions, History of Magic, Defense Against the Dark Arts, impulsive, annoying with her sun-shiney attitude, not very interested in school.

Fears
Heights. Water. The horses dying. The farm failing. Really, Orla is too naive and has too much faith in people to be afraid of too much.

.FAMILY.
Mam; Beatrice Mary Kiely, nee McAndrew
Da; Patrick John Kiely
Brother; Aidan Liam Kiely
Sisters; Bridget (20), Therese (19), Aoife (19), Nora (18), Siobhan (14), Rylee (13), Peyton (13)

.HISTORY.
Life in the Kiely household was hectic, but simple. All eleven of them live on a farm in the Irish country, raising both crops and animals. Orla is the middle daughter and the younger twin of the oldest set of twins. Yes, there are two sets of twins amongst the nine children. With so many sisters, one might think that all of them would be rather girlie, even though they lived on a farm, but this is entirely untrue. Being very close to her (manly) twin brother means that Orla acts more like him than any of her sisters. She practically grew up in the barn and has been taking care of and riding the horses ever since she was seven years old. She took to riding like a fish to water (which is funny because Orla can't swim), and in a year, she was competing against kids her age; sometimes she won, sometimes she didn't, but as she grew older, she got better and began to win more and more.

With the exception of living on a farm, Orla grew up like every other Irish girl. She had siblings, had friends, didn't care for school all that much, and had fun. However, there was something different about her and Aidan. They could do things that others couldn't. Aidan fell 25 out of a tree and didn't hurt himself. Orla, on a trail ride by herself in the woods along the back of the property, was thrown from her horse and sprained her ankle, only to find that after a couple hours of sitting there and wondering when someone would come and find her that her ankle had healed itself. She kept this secret to herself until one day right after her eleventh birthday. Two letters came by owl, addressed to herself and Aidan and said that they could do magic. Awed and in shock, Orla shared her story with Aidan. Could it really be true? Yes, it had to be, because although their parents tried to ignore the letters, more came until they could ignore it no longer, and they had the Headmaster of the school in Scotland come round to explain further.

It would take some convincing to make Orla go, for although she wanted very much to see this new world and meet other children like her, she did not want to leave the farm for almost ten whole months, even if they would get to come home for holidays. Her curiosity finally won her over, as well as Aidan saying he was going to go, and off they went. The twins had so much to learn about the wizarding world, that much became clear as day on the train. And the boats afterward? Orla was very nearly sick over the side. Not only did the girl not know how to swim, but she was scared of drowning and she apparently got sea-sick. The thought of being separated from Aidan when they were both so new to everything made her extremely anxious, so when his name was called, she nearly had an attack. However, when her turn came, she was entirely too relieved when the floppy hat on her head said the same word for her as for Aidan.

Orla was both pleased and relieved to find that she fit in just fine with her classmates and that she was actually good at some of her classes. She had a bit of a green thumb, so Herbology came naturally to her, and living out in the open, far away from the city lights, made it easy to see the stars; her parents even found the money to buy a (secondhand) telescope for the twins to use while they were at home. In her third year, Orla took up Care of Magical Creatures and Divination. And she loved them. Divination she wasn't so good at, but she still found it an exciting subject. And her love of animals made CoMC a fun class as well.

As she never paid too much attention to her appearance, in addition to her natural tendency to be innocent and naive, it took a while before Orla realised she had boys that liked her. Of course, it was not until she realised this that she paid attention to them in that way, and much to her brother's dismay, she has found that she rather likes the attention she gets from the lads.

.APPEARANCE.
Orla is pretty in a very simple way. She prefers to keep her long, dark hair back in a practical pony tail, and she doesn't wear a lot of makeup, as it just comes off when you're mucking out stalls anyway. She's on the thin side, but has a lot of upper body strength. Her manner of dress is very simple; having 9 children meant plenty of hand-me-downs for the girls. Unfortunately, most of those hand-me-downs were "girlie" things, and those just aren't the smartest things to wear in a barn, so Orla often "borrows" her brother's clothing, something not very difficult since they share a room.

Although the two look very much alike, Orla is much shorter and rather lighter boned. In short, she's built like a jockey, which is good because she's recently discovered that she wants to race horses for a living. Although she eats all the time, the 5'1" girl weighs just over a hundred pounds.

Journal:
[Aidan]
I want to go home. I can't wait three weeks for the holliers, I just can't. Can we go home?
[/Private]

Grrr, Defense is killing me. I can't even like, grasp it at all. It's so fecking frustrating sometimes! And while I'm on it, I hate Transfiguration, too. I mean, jaysus! Can't it be a mite easier, like?

Thread:
Words could not express how much Orla had missed the farm. It was her home, the place she felt safe and comfortable and most like herself. And while she loved Hogwarts and everything she was learning there, she loved the farm with all of her soul. The smells of the stable greeted her as she opened the doors and walked in. She'd only just gotten home, but she wanted to say hello to the horses before she went into bed - if she even went in the house to sleep. Her face split into a big grin as she caught sight of Starry Night, her favourite horse, and the one she wanted to buy from her parents when she had the money. Starry Night was a beautiful black Hackney, dotted with white specks. She was tall for her breed, standing at about 15 hands high. Starry wasn't the horse Orla usually went to shows with, but she was still her baby - Orla had actually raised her.

Walking over to Starry, Orla planted a kiss on the horse's nose and grabbed her curry comb. Grooming the horses always calmed her, and they certainly didn't mind it, so it was a win-win situation all around.

The barn was remarkably quiet; the only sounds were the horses eating, drinking, or moving inside their stalls. Orla had never been afraid while in the barn, but even she had to admit that it was eerily quiet. To make herself feel better (and less silly for being afraid), she made her way to the office and grabbed the radio. On her way back she nearly dropped the thing and had a heart attack when someone shut the barn doors too hard behind them. Flipping around she nearly screamed, "Ay! What'chuh doin, yuh bloody eejit? Is there a want in you or something, la?"
